HOW DO I TEACH?

I employ CLIL methodology when teaching English as a foreign language.

*

CLIL = content and language integrated learning. It’s a fabulous language immersion method that aims at teaching subjects such as science, history, geography and art to students through a foreign language.

*

It is basically dual-focused education so I teach a subject through a foreign language. In this case, in English. During the leaning process, the focus is on fluency not on accuracy. Students are encouraged to learn in the language. They pay attention to and observe both the subject and the language at the same time.  It is similar to bilingual education.

*

As a result, students develop a positive attitude towards the langues because they learn about subjects that they are interested in.

*

In practice, I teach THEMES  through TASKS and grammar in context. CLIL promotes collaborative work and the acquisition of  task-based skills.  It also rewards students ability to use their own personal knowledge to succeed in the classroom.

*

I teach art, history and science related subject in English to 7-11 year olds.
